b210 is an architecture office with a think tank approach to everyday spatial challenges. We believe that positive change in the built environment is driven by a smart design process where architectural ideas are as important as methods of developing them. We like to design ways of thinking as much as physical spaces.

The Flow for Riga International Biennal of Contemporary Art

„THE FLOW” is an  exhibition design proposal we did for the 1st Riga International Biennial of Contemporary Art (RIBOCA) which will take place in several venues in the city of Riga from the 31st May – 28th October 2018.

The concept of our proposal “The Flow” was based on the philosophy of the pre-Socratic philosopher Heraclitus (500 B.C.) that everything is constantly changing (‘Ta panta rhei’, Greek. Literally, “everything flows”).The spatial arrangement and overall design was done for three historical venues: The Biology Faculty of the University of Latvia, gorgeous Spilve Airport (former civilian and military airport in Latvia) and Zuzeum (former cork factory that is transformed into place for a contemporary art scene).

A little extra touch was done by creating a mobile floating art station that could operate on the canals by the building of Biology faculty and river Daugava. With each venue we worked with both inside and outside areas. Although Spilve airport has been left out of the initial venues used by the art biennale, this beautiful building with great interior is something to be seen.
